Dalton E. Fleck's Obituary
Lakeview - Dalton E Fleck, age 88, of Edmore formerly of Six Lakes passed away May 4, 2017 at his home. Dalton was born September 25, 1928 in Six Lakes on the family farm, to Lucas Marcus and Miriam (Dawes) Fleck. He was raised in Six Lakes and graduated from Six Lakes High School Class of 1946. Upon graduating, Dalton served his country faithfully and honorably in the Army Air Corp from August 1946 until January 1950. He enlisted as a Med Tech and graduated from Basic Training at Randolph Field in 1948. Dalton then scored high and became a Fighter Pilot. Upon fulfilling his duty, Dalton was 2nd Lt Dalton E Fleck. He joined the Reserves at Selfridge Air Force Base from July 1, 1951 to March 7,1953.
Dalton returned home and spent morning and night on the family farm, working in the fields and milking Jersey cows. Dalton attended college and completed one year Agricultural classes. Dalton farmed his whole life retiring the cows in 1996 and then officially retiring in 2005. Dalton married Teresa "Michele" Wheatley on April 4, 1992 in Six Lakes, Michigan.
Dalton was a member of the School Board, Zoning Administrator, Board of Appeals, Farm Bureau of Montcalm County, and was a lifetime member of the Six Lakes Masonic Lodge 18. Dalton enjoyed Euchre, horse shoes, snowmobiling, golfing, trapping, ice spearing, fishing, hunting with dogs, and feeding and taking care of his son's horses.
Dalton will be deeply missed by his wife Michele Fleck of Edmore; two children Pamela (Robert) Gummer of Muskego, WI, and Michael (Jane) Fleck of Six Lakes; one step-daughter Shannon (Gene) Kesteloot of Harrison; seven grandchildren Tonia Peters, Ryan Gummer, Angela Kardelis, Angela Hoogeveen, Rachelle Valentine, Bryan Sturm, Kristina Leipus; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters Martha Burns of Six Lakes, and Doris (John) Snyder of Sparta; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dalton was preceded in death by his first wife Joann (Lewis) Fleck on July 24, 1991; his parents Lucas and Miriam Fleck; and baby sister Joyce.
Funeral Services for Dalton will be Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Six Lakes Chapel. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00-8:00 PM on Monday May 8, 2017 also at the Six Lakes Chapel. A luncheon will take place at the VFW Post in Six Lakes following the burial at Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes. Contributions in Dalton's memory may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice of Grand Rapids or to Alzheimer's Association.
