Daniel Roger Kinsey's Obituary
Daniel Roger Kinsey, age 69, passed away of pancreatic cancer at his home on March 14, 2022 at 11:28 am. He was born August 17, 1952 at Greenville Hospital, to Glenn Warren and Agnes Joan Kinsey, the 3rd of 7 children. He attended Lakeview Public Schools, K-12, participating in band. In 1970 and 1971 he played baritone in the Rose Bowl Parade, Pasadena, CA, and in Macy's Parade, NYC, and McDonald's All-American Band. He also played in the National FFA band in Kansas City in 1970. That year he attended U of M at Interlochen, MI. He attended the Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music on a music scholarship. Years later he attended GRCC and MCC for classes in heating and cooling and electric, obtaining his HVAC license. He worked to install furnaces and air conditioning, renovated and serviced dozens of homes, built 3 new houses, ran a small dairy farm, managed woodlots with his own sawmill, sawing Norway spruce on the former Kelsey farm (trees planted by Dr. Kelsey's brother), owned numerous rental properties, and raised a big family, including many years of homeschooling. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Irene and brother James. He is survived by his brother Gerald (Charlene), Benjamin (Debra), and Timothy (Brenda) and sister Norma Jean (Marian) Kasperek, his first wife Mary Johnson, with whom he had Amy (Jason) Meuller, Sarah McDowell, and Heidi (Matthew) Fahrner, his second wife Charlotte and their children Samuel (Kymari) Kinsey, Elijah (Naomi) Kinsey, Sarai Kinsey, David (Catherine) Kinsey, Levi (Ramsden) Kinsey, and 16 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 3 step children and numerous nieces and nephews.
Daniel was a high-energy, hard-working man with interests in anything mechanical, music, Biblical languages, the support of Christian mission work, doctrinal issues, gardening, and healthful eating. Over the years, he attended a variety of churches, gaining appreciation for each one's heritage, but especially those of Anabaptist origins.
Interment was at the Amble cemetery. Visitation will be on March 26, 2022 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, with a memorial service at noon, followed by a hot luncheon, all at Lakeview Free Methodist Church. Condolences can be made at www.brighamfuneralchapel.com.
