Darlene Agatha VerBurg's Obituary
Canadian Lakes — Darlene VerBurg, a long-time resident of the Canadian Lakes area, died Wednesday the 20th of November in Big Rapids, Michigan. She was born in 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to William and Thelma Williams. Darlene graduated from Denby High School in 1954 and then graduated from nursing school as a licensed practical nurse. She married Robert VerBurg and raised a family with love. Through her career as a nurse, Dalrene found that her passion was working with the elderly and disabled. She worked for Clinton Aire Nursing Home for many years taking care of her father and all residents there. She particularly enjoyed caring for people in her community. Darlene loved her family and friends first and foremost. She enjoyed baking and canning, reading, sunbathing, and watching her stories.She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert of 59 years, parents William and Thelma, her brother Paul. Darlene is survived by her brother George and her three children, Larry (Sandy) VerBurg, Diane (Dan) Hagle, and Bruce (Laurie) VerBurg. Darlene will also be forever remembered by her eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and also by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. A memorial to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held in the Spring of 2020.
