Uncle Darrell was the sweetest! When I was younger, I would always go ice fishing and end up at his and Aunt Norma's house watching The Carol Burnett Show.....eating snacks and visiting with them both.
Uncle Darrell was always so happy-go-lucky and smiley....until the day I swung a golf club and hit Dad right across the forehead and knocked him out cold. Uncle Darrell looked at me with fear in his eyes and said, "RUN!" Haha I instead helped him lift Dad to his feet...and Uncle Darrell says, "Stan you forgot the most important thing about golf. Don't walk behind someone swinging a club!"....and then he winked at me and giggled and so did Dad! (Saved me from getting into deep trouble!)
I visited him nearly everytime I was home from California....sadly, I hadn't seen him since last year. (I need to do a better job at reaching out to the Aunts and Uncles that are still with me!)
Every time I hear a hissing cat, see the Detroit Tigers play and eat fish (amongst numerous other things)...I have thought of and will continue to think of you! I have so many memories....of so many conversations we had about so many things....I will always hold them close to my heart.
I love and miss you...as you did me! I AM so happy you are with Grandpa & Grandma, Aunt Norma, Dad, Claudette and Uncle Gary again! Someday I will see that handsome face again....until then, I will hold on to the sound of your giggle, smile through the tears knowing you are Home with our Lord and Savior for eternity. Rest peacefully Uncle Darrell!!!!
