Darrell James Knapp's Obituary
Darrell James Knapp, age 67, of Amble, passed away at his home Sunday, January 16, 2022. Darrell was born on September 3, 1954 and raised in Amble by his parents Jack and Phyllis Knapp on their small farm. Darrell graduated from Lakeview High School and later received an associate degree at Montcalm Community College. Darrell married his wife, Vickie, in October of 1978. Darrell loved to turn the ground and watch things grow. He worked hard as a child on their farm and continued to do so throughout his entire life. He also worked at Electrolux, Greenville for 27 years. Returned back to farming when the factory closed down. Darrell also carried on the family tradition by being the cemetery sexton for Winfield Township for over 12 years. Farming was Darrell's joy. He loved hunting, fishing, the Upper Peninsula, his family, and life. A very proud, kindhearted, friendly man, Darrell was a gift of life donor and felt if he could help just one person it would all be worth it.
Darrell will be missed by his wife of 43 years, Vickie; his children, Patricia Knapp, Calvin Smith and friend Jamie; grandchildren, Jack, Jarrod, and Hannah Ingraham, Jeremiah, Haylee Howe, Austin Serrano Rachelle Smith, Ayden, and Emerson (ET) Smith, great grandchildren, Daryn (tunk) Howe and Mateo (Mate) Serrano; brothers and sisters, Louise Knapp and friend, Mark, Kurt (Vickie) Knapp, Bruce Knapp, Betty (Kirk) Voorhees, Janice Allen, and Denise Knapp, Pat Driesenga, Sandra Kluiter and Bill, Karla Jones and Karl, Jacalyn Jones and Scott, Mary (Mark) Allen, Arthur (Karla) Jones, John (Pam) Jones; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, friends, and his very special friends, Uncle Jim and Aunt Carol Knapp.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Phyllis Knapp; grandson, Gene; brothers-n-laws, Rick Allen, Rick Kluiter, Robert Driesenga; sister-n-law, Linda Borst.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Knapp Family Farm, 15881 Yankee Rd., Howard City, MI 49329.
