David Lee Aldrich's Obituary
In Loving Memory – David Lee Aldrich – Big Rapids
David Lee Aldrich, 67, of Lakeview, MI, passed away December 28, 2023, in Phom Phen, Cambodia, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born February 7, 1957, the oldest of nine children of Darrell Aldrich and Louise (Becker) Aldrich. David was blessed to have another brother later on from his mother’s second marriage.
On August 21, 1974, he married Rose Wilcoxen (Converse) and they were blessed with their daughter Ann.
David retired twice, the first time from the Grand Rapids Press, and then from Peasley Trucking. He had an unparallel work ethic, coming out of retirement to assist his daughter during her battle with cancer. He enjoyed traveling and exploring new places.
David held many titles in his life: son, brother, uncle, but his favorite role was dad and grandpa. He was always there for them and loved spending time with them. David had a deep love for his grandchildren, dropping whatever he was doing when his assistance was needed. He loved and cherished his family above all else and had devoted his life to them. David made a positive impact on those around him and gave some good laughs.
He is survived by his daughter Ann Aldrich (Nathan Quint); three grandchildren, Whinter Aldrich, Jaeson Aldrich, and Kenneth Jeffrey; two great grandchildren, Adrian and Curtis Crenshaw; his father Darrell (Doris) Aldrich; his siblings, Jennifer Aldrich, Joseph Aldrich, Richard Aldrich, Mary Jo (David) Burd, Roger (Michelle) Aldrich, Gerald (Carrie) Aldrich, Kathleen (Brian) Kenyon, and Michelle (John) Acton; several extended family members; and many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his mother Louise, his brother John Heuss, and his grandparents Marion (Sam) and Gertrude (Miller) Becker.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Share a memory or express condolences at mohnkefuneralhome.com.
