David Austin Wing's Obituary
David Austin Wing, age 85, of Vestaburg, left this earthly home to meet his heavenly father on Thursday, July 9, 2015. David was born on September 29, 1929, in the Sumner area, the son of Adophus Jarvis and Estella (Brecht) Wing. He was raised in the Sumner/Riverdale area and attended school in Sumner and Elm Hall. He completed additional education in and received certification in Welding and as a Machinist.
David accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1956 at the Assembly of God Church in Alma. His has been a faithful follower of Christ since that time, leaving a legacy for his family and all that knew him to follow. He has been a member of M-46 Tabernacle for most of his life, attended Crystal Lake Community Church, Edmore Full Gospel Tabernacle and most recently the Lighthouse Church of God in St. Louis. David received his ordination as a licensed minister in 2012.
David was employed at Buick factory in Flint, Redmond Trailer in Alma and Lobdell Emery in Alma for over 35 years. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, bird watching, tinkering in his shop, fishing, hunting and camping. He built three of his homes and especially enjoyed traveling with his family. However, his favorite pastime was his time spent with his Lord and Savior, praying with and for anyone who asked or needed prayer, and worshipping with his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
On September 30, 1950, David married the love of his life, Luella Maxine Finch in Angola, Indiana, who survives. He is also survived by his children: Sharon and Don Snyder of Vestaburg, Rick and O.J. Wing of Crystal, Stephen and Sheila Brigham of Lakeview and Rhonda and Chris Bradshaw of Vestaburg, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was also survived by a sister Mary (Albert) Jennings of Lansing and Joe and Irene Wing of St. Johns.
David was preceded in death by his brothers: Carl, Walter, Donald, Earnest, Fred and Leo; and sisters: Hazel Johnson and Alice Henderline.
A celebration of his home going has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the M-46 Tabernacle in Vestaburg with Pastor Stephen Hale, Pastor's Jack and Daniel Skirvin and his son-n-law Chris Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive the love and support of family and friends on Monday, July 13, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brigham Funeral Chapel at Vestaburg. Interment will be in Richland Cemetery with Pastor Dan Skirvin officiating.
Memorial contributions in David's memory can be made payable to his church, Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God in St. Louis.
