David Ellis Mumby's Obituary
David Ellis Mumby, age 71, of Lakeview (formerly of Howard City), passed away with family by his side, at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital, on Saturday, September 12, 2015. David was born on January 20, 1944 in Howard City, the son of Ellis and Doris (Stevens) Mumby. He was raised in Howard City and graduated from Lakeview High School at the tender age of seventeen. David worked as a farmer for SandyLand for 14 years and then as a machinist for Parker Hannifin for 26 years until retirement. David married Jane Geraldine Miller on April 26, 1986 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Lakeview. He enjoyed antique tractors and farming, country music, spending time with his family, and he especially loved his animals. David was a member of Brockway Wesleyan Church in Morley.
David will be missed by his wife of 29 years Jane Mumby of Lakeview; seven children Dawn Boerma of WY, Duane (Tammy) Boerma of Lakeview, Debbie Boerma of Edmore, Darwin Boerma of Lakeview, Lisa (Richard) Post of Lakeview, Donald Hunter of Lakeview, and Michael (Emily) VanAlstine of OK; one brother Clyle (Deb) Mumby of Belding; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Doris Mumby; daughter Laura Boerma-Post; one son Thomas Hunter; and a special nephew Jerome Mumby.
Funeral Services for David will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Brockway Wesleyan Church (10951 3 Mile Rd, Morley, MI 49336), with Reverend Jeff Lemire Jr. officiating. Visitation for David will be one hour before the service at 10:00 A.M. A luncheon will be at the church, following the graveside service in West Pine Cemetery in Coral. Memorial Contributions in David's memory be made payable to David and Jane cancer fund at : Community First Federal Credit Union, 9637 Greenville Rd., Lakeview, MI 48850.
