David Paul Scott's Obituary
Stanwood - David Paul Scott, 81, of Canadian Lakes, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017, at his residence. He was born September 17, 1935, in Jackson, the son of Floyd and Marjorie (Pulling) Scott, and graduated from Jackson High School in 1954. David then enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country until his honorable discharge from active duty in 1957. Following his discharge, he returned to Jackson, and worked for the Michigan Inspection Bureau. David then moved to Livonia, and became an agent for the Detroit Insurance Agency. He worked for many years as an agent for Alexander & Alexander (later AON) Insurance Company until his retirement. In 2002, he moved to Canadian Lakes. David was a member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and do-it-yourself craftsman whom loved socializing with family and friends. David will be missed very much by his wife of 29 years Mary; 3 children, Marsha Scott of Miami, FL, Gregory (Karen) Scott of Fresno, CA, and Mary Beth Leach of Shelby Township; his step-son Joshua (Jennifer) Bailey of Rochester Hills; 8 grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Glen, Logan ,Emily, Victoria, Jessica, and Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Dean and Wanda Scott. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2017, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Father Thomas Page officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mecosta. David's family will greet friends at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, and prior to services on Friday. Memorial contributions in his name may be made for Heartland Hospice,envelopes available at the funeral home.
