In Loving Memory - David William Winkler - Big Rapids
David William Winkler was born on November 30, 1944, in Big Rapids, Michigan to William and Hilda Winkler, and passed away on April 19, 2024.
David attended Big Rapids High School, graduating in 1963. He also attended Ferris State College, graduating in 1965 with a degree in heating and cooling. David held many positions over the years, most notably with American Standard, Ready Power Company, Eaton Corp. and Prudential. David retired from Electrolux in Greenville, MI. His favorite job was farming at his parents’ farm and before passing he spoke about how much he missed being able to drive the tractor.
David married JoAnne Akom in 1995, and together they made their home in White Cloud, MI. David enjoyed his home and property, building a tree house for his grandchildren and taking them for walks in the woods to look for turkey feathers. In his younger years he
enjoyed small game hunting and he liked to sit at his kitchen table where he could watch deer and turkey in the woods. He also had an interest in woodworking and had made different outdoor decorations.
David will be deeply missed by his daughter, Sandra Welch (Mark) and grandchildren, Chelsea Hazen (Sam) and Matthew Welch; stepdaughter, Tammy Spring (Andrew) and step-grandchildren Samantha Luce (Levi) and Jacob Spring; stepson, Nick Akom; sister, Rose Mary Jennings; and brother Walt Winkler, as well as several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his wife JoAnne, his parents, William and Hilda Winkler, and daughter Julie.
Funeral Services for David will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Randy Piatt officiating.
