Deana Kay Norriss' Obituary
Chase - Deana Kay Norriss, 67, of Chase, Michigan (formerly of Reed City), left this world way too soon on August 2, 2022, while at home in hospice care.
Deana was born November 22, 1954, in Reed City, the daughter of Harold and Jean (Morden) Crysler. In September of 1973, she married Robert C. Moser. (They divorced many years later.) On June 17, 2002, she married Peter Norriss in Reading, Berkshire, England. Mrs. Norriss graduated from Reed City High School in 1972.
She worked as a waitress at the former Osceola Inn Hotel, as a secretary for the Osceola County Cooperative Extension and was employed at the Osceola County District Courthouse numerous years before deciding to stay home and raise her children. After several years of being a very involved, hands-on mother, Deana returned to work in various job departments at the Reed City Public Schools, as a designer and salesclerk at Patterson's Flowers, was employed at the Central Michigan District Health Department and then as a secretary for Edward Jones Investments.
Deana loved bowling and the interaction with other players. Together, with her husband, they would bowl with the senior league on Wednesday afternoons and won the Saturday night league a few times with other matched couples. She could often be seen collecting money for 50/50 raffles along with various drawings during league play. Cooking, scrabble, traveling and spending time with her family were among Deana's favorite things to do in her spare time. Mrs. Norriss also found relaxation in basket weaving, crocheting, crosswords and working in her garden. Often times, her hand-made creations would make their way to other family members and friends, as gifts. In her earlier years, she liked canning and preserving the vegetables that she grew during the summer months to enjoy year around. Taking long walks around the neighborhood were peaceful for her. Deana will be remembered as a loving, caring and giving mother that was always supportive and active in her children's sporting events. She was naturally bullheaded at times but was a good sister. No matter if it was tee-ball, soccer or volunteering at the annual St. Jude Children's Bike-a-Thon, Deana enjoyed the time spent helping others.
She is survived by her husband, Peter; children, Chris Moser of Columbus, Indiana, Aaron (Kelli) Moser of Tallahassee, Fl., Dave (Kelly Beale) Norriss, Helen (Dave Payne) Norriss, both of Milton, Keynes, England; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Sophie, Kaitlyn, Kaila, Kaici; siblings, Sheila (Ernie) Guillemette, of Grand Rapids, MI., Deb (Dave) Baumunk of White Cloud, MI., Bill (Penny) Vanringelsteyn, also of Grand Rapids, MI., Ross Crysler of Hersey, MI., Todd (Lori) Crysler of Lansing, MI., Blake (Julie) Crysler of Edwardsburg, MI.; several nieces, nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Brenden Moser and sister-in-law, Tammy Crysler.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Online condolences and special memories may be shared with Deana's family at mohnkefuneralhome.com. Arrangements were entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
"We love you to the moon and back, momma. Thank you so much for being the best mother ever."
