What isnt there to say about DJ. He was such a light in the unit, such a sweet kid after getting wind of me doing art things from our PORT manager, came walking immediately over to my desk, coloring pages in hand and a smile on his face having me color things for him, which I gladly agreed.
Later on, getting gifted a small, brown sketchbook in which I could draw anything I wanted to draw for him, and give it to him after completing it as a memory of the 9th floor, a goal I wasn't able to complete before he passed all too soon.
He was always wearing something Pokémon related, whether it was his Pikachu bonnet, or a t-shirt of his favorite Pokémon, it wasn't hard to spot him walking around the unit, playing Pokémon go with some of the nurses, and exchanging Pokémon with them.
My heart goes out to every single member of his amazing family, you are such wonderful people, I am so terribly sorry for your loss, DJ was an amazing young boy. But, he is no longer in pain anymore, and his up in heaven catching all the Pokémon to his hearts content. Sending lots of love to the family 🫂💙
