Delbert Joseph Ringquist's Obituary
Delbert Joseph Ringquist, 82, of Stanwood, MI passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, with his loving daughters by his side.
Del was born October 2, 1942 to Josphine Ringquist. He met his forever love, Barbara “Barb” Ringquist, while student teaching, and they married on July 17,1965 in Dowagiac, MI. Together they grew their family to include two daughters.
Del’s family describe him as a smart, kind, and caring human. He had genuine interest in everyone he met, leaving them always feeling better. Del projected a positive energy and had a contagious smile that would light a room. Family was the most important thing to Del. He also loved to travel, including getting to all 50 states and numerous countries around the world. Del earned his PhD in political science from the University of Oklahoma and worked for over 40 years for Central Michigan University positively impacting students for decades.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Megan Gerardi and Keir Mitchell; grandchildren, Katelyn Awad, Jacqueline Gerardi, and Joseph Gerardi; great-grandchildren, Brayden Gerardi, Koral Curtis, and Walker Awad, as well as brother, Gordon Ringquist. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Wernette Ringquist and Sister, Ida Mae Bogar.
There will be a celebration of life at a future date. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions in memory of Delbert Ringquist to Angels of Action: Fighting Childhood Hunger (P.O. Box 1020, Big Rapids, MI 49307).
