Dennis "Big Denny" Caryl Howe's Obituary
Dennis "Big Denny" Caryl Howe, age 60, of Mecosta, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, March 30, 2019. Denny was born on January 31, 1959 in Greenville, Michigan, the son of Gordon Henry and Hazel Ella (Dennis) Howe. He was raised in Mecosta and attended Chippewa Hills Public Schools. Denny served his country honorably in the Army as a mechanic, in which he enlisted at the tender age of 16 in 1977. He continued his education by receiving his certificate in mechanics while he was in the Army. Denny had received several medals and commendations for rescuing people during the 1976 snow storm in New York. Denny continued certifications throughout his life and at one point attending classes at Ferris State University.
Denny was employed by Evart Products, Remus Repair, West Michigan Cable, and did oil rig work. His main passion was mechanics. He liked working with his hands and his family stated, "You did not get in his way when he was working on a car".
Denny loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was well known for making others laugh just because he was laughing. He also enjoyed movies, gambling, fishing, camping, and dancing. He was well known for his sense of humor and those who spent time with him knew, with Denny, there was never a dull moment. Denny loved to moon people.
Denny will be missed by his children Darcie Howe (Robert Umbleby) of Mecosta, Dennis (SarahMae) Howe II of Mecosta, and Amanda (Dennis) Reid of Barryton; his demon cat Spaz who was very well trained; grandchildren Joseph, Damian, Meghan, Shalynn, RJ, and Catelyn; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Hazel Howe, one sister Denise Howe, and one baby brother.
