Dick Eugene Losey's Obituary
Big Rapids - Dick Eugene Losey, 94, of Big Rapids, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Whispering Pines Senior Living Center in Lake City, MI.
He was born July 29, 1927, in Flint, MI, the son of Clifford and Margaret (Golz) Losey. Dick served in the U.S. Army with the German Occupation Forces from 1945-46. He studied engineering at Ferris State College and Wayne State University.
Dick was a Process engineer and Quality Control Manager for the automotive industry.
He spent many hours volunteering for the United Way, Junior Achievement, Detroit School for the Deaf, Defiance Ohio Public Library, Big Rapids Public Library, and transporting seniors to medical appointments. In his spare time, he enjoyed being a pilot, a sailor, vacationing with his family, fishing, hunting, and playing cards.
On July 2, 1949, he married Alice Helen Zilus, who survives. He is also survived by their sons, Thomas (Linda) Losey of St. James, MN, James (Alexandra) Losey of Chevy Chase, MD, Robert (Judy) Losey of Lake City, MI, and Dr. John (Michele) Losey of Ithaca, NY; six grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons, Donald and Kenneth Losey and his brothers, Robert and Donald Losey,
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2021, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Roger Mackie officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery. Dick's family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Memorial contributions in his name may be made for St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
