Donald L. Cook's Obituary
Big Rapids - Donald Cook, our loving husband, father, and grandfather, was born into eternal rest October 21, 2019, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was 82 years old.
Donald was born November 26, 1936, in Lafayette, IN, the son of Kenneth and Lucille (Graves) Cook. He was a jack of all trades, and master of none. His incredible sense of humor could put a smile on anyone's face, and his comforting nature could put anyone at ease. Donald was a family man to his core, enjoying every second he spent with them. His faith was deep, and he loved his church family. Honest, noble, and caring were all words used to describe Donald. He loved to read, was a history buff, and enjoyed playing euchre in his younger days. He was also intrigued by space, which he read a lot about, and enjoyed watching NASCAR on T.V.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 21 years, Ellen; his children, Brenda (Loyd) Parks, Russell Cook, Bill Cook, Sarah Stone, and Lloyd Cook; his other children include, Carol Knapp, Debra Swidorski, Steve Knapp, and Jennifer Knapp; grandchildren, Cory, Zach, James, Chris, Dustin Sallee, Jessica, Shelby, and many more; several great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Rhonda Cook; his sister Debora Riely-Cook; and his dog Chico. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, six siblings, his first wife, Sharon, and daughter-in-law Tammy Kelly.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Grace Calvary Fellowship Church in Big Rapids with Pastor Ronald Weller officiating. Donald's family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Military honors by the Big Rapids American Legion Post #98. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the church.
