Donald V. Madison's Obituary
Reed City Donald Virgil Madison, 89, of Barton Township, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, August 2, 2008, at his home. He was born August 16, 1918, on his familys farm in Barton Township, the son of Anker C. and Ida G. (Schooley) Madison, and lived there his entire life. During World War II he served with the United States Army. Following his discharge, he returned home, where he was a dairy farmer for many years until losing his herd to P.B.B. On August 24, 1950, he married Anna Reid, who survives. Also surviving are son-in-law John Georgakakos, and granddaughter Betina (Nekit) Mathola and their children Neal and Ria, of Mammouth Junction, NJ; his sister Norma Britton of Big Rapids; nieces and nephews Roberta (Gerald) Todd, Edward (Nelda) Youngs, Inga Akey, Carl (Deborah) Youngs, Karoline (Michael) Allen, Kathryn (Ronald) Todd, Karlene Radar, Norman (Rena) Madison, Gaylon (Jeanne) Madison, Richard (Kathleen) Britton, Donald (Melinda) Britton, and James, Janet, and Carol McAlpine; brothers-in-law John (Paulette) Reid and Donald Reid; and friends Joe Korzets, the Cotherman Family, and his health caregivers who tended to his needs. Donald was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Georgakakos, grandson Harrison, sister Loretta and her husband Donald Youngs, brother Wallace Madison and his wife Laura, nephews Arthur and Leo Youngs, sister-in-law Margaret McAlpine, and brother-in-law Max Britton. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Ryan Shrable officiating. Burial will be in the Chase Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions for the A.L.S. Foundation may be left at the funeral home, where Donalds family will greet friends Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 4-8 pm, and prior to services on Wednesday.
