Donald Manley Shurlow's Obituary
Donald (Don) Manley Shurlow, age 58, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2018 after a long battle with Huntington's Disease, surrounded by family at his home.
While Don has had a difficult time these past few years, his faith that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior sustained him through the toughest of times, until he drew his final breath. For those who knew Don, know of his tremendous strength, endless generosity, unfaltering work-ethic, loyalty, and sense of humor. Don successfully ran his own trucking business for many years, Don Shurlow Trucking. He enjoyed coaching multiple of his children's youth sport leagues, spending time with his four legged friends (Marco, Vince, and Dori), and boating with his family at the lake.
Don was an adventurous spirit that always made life more exciting. His name is rarely mentioned without a story that follows. Whether it was chopping down Christmas trees that were much too large, whipping his children around the lake on tubes, or making dirt bike racing tracks in his front yard, there was nothing dull about this man's life. More than anything Don loved his family that he now leaves his legacy to.
Don is survived by his best friend and wife, Gail Shurlow; five children, Jonathan (Sonia) Shurlow, Kevin Shurlow, Erin (Erik) Mason, Nathan Shurlow and Madison Shurlow. Don was a devoted grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren, Alex, Emma, Ava, and Eleanor. He was a proud brother to, Kimberlie (Gregory) Perkins, David (Kari) Shurlow and Wendy (David) Leonard. Don had many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents Donald Earl Shurlow and Barbara Bell, along with his dear sister Kimberlie (Shurlow) Perkins.
