Donna Jean Schmidt's Obituary
Donna Jean Schmidt, of Vestaburg, died Sunday morning, November 9, 2025, at the Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma. She was 87 years old.
She was born Donna Jean Loomis to parents, Raymond Oliver Loomis and Ruby Ann Allison, of Seville Township, on September 7, 1938, at the family farm home. She is preceded in death by her parents; her three sisters and six brothers; and her daughter, Diane Lynn Bingham, of Rocky Face, Georgia.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Arnold Nolan Schmidt, 92, of Vestaburg; her sons, Randy Nolan Schmidt (Sharon), 66, of St. Johns, and Bryan Schmidt (Julie), 60, of Shepherd; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Donna had a beautiful singing voice and loved to travel. Her heart was always most full when family and friends filled her home, and she could always be found making others something to eat⏤this is how she showed her love. Dedicated, loyal, and affectionate, treasured and loved by all who knew her, her kind, good presence will be missed for many years to come.
Donna was laid to rest in a private service on November 12, 2025, at Richland Township Cemetery, next to her daughter. We will gather to celebrate her life and legacy at 1:00 p.m. on January 24, 2026 with visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. prior to the service, at Vestaburg Church of Christ, 7989 Ave. B. Vestaburg, MI 48891.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Rock Lake Christian Assembly.
