Doris A. Mitchell's Obituary
Big Rapids -Doris A. (Burrett) Mitchell, 93, of Big Rapids, on Monday, September 22, 2014 peace and eternal rest came to our beloved mother and grandmother. Doris was born December 24, 1920 to Claude and Lila Burrett in Big Rapids, Michigan. Doris worked for Chemical Bank for many years and retired as Vice President of Finance. She was such a valuable employee she had to retire three times from the same job. She also worked for 20 years with Wilsons Apparel on Michigan Avenue. She is survived by her children; Sandy Berta of Vacaville, California and Gordon D. (Wanda) Mitchell of Niceville, Florida, five grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Special thanks are expressed to Julie Houghton for the dedicated attention she gave to Doris by being a friend in everything in her time of need and illness. Our thanks to Ben and Jen Upham for being those attentive neighbors than meant so much to her. They shared many moments with each other and in the lives of both of their families. To a lifelong friend, Gretchen Losey, for the many times of laughter and love spent at Bennigan's on Friday and the special times in each of their lives and work. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., October 4, 2014 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Visitation will be from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Pine Plains Cemetery in Colfax Township.
