Doris Mae Richards' Obituary
Mecosta - Doris Bordano Richards, 91 of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully Friday, August 10, 2018 at Royal View Retirement Community in Mecosta.
Doris was born July 20, 1927 in Wakefield, MI, the daughter of William and Mary (Bellmore) Anderson. On September 1, 1945, in Wakefield, she married the love of her life Steve Bordano, who preceded her in death 1965. In 1971, she married William Richards, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Family was her priority, and she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Everyone who knew her was touched by her kindness and sweet personality. Doris worked hard all her life, and was formerly employed by the Old Pioneer Store, the Pioneer Group, Ferris State University, and Dr. DuBois' office.
Doris is survived by her children, Renee Mohnke, Mary (John) Fernandez, and David (Amy) Bordano; four grandchildren, Steve Nanasi, Jennifer (Nate) Chiles, Cara (Jason) Kelly, and 1st Sgt. Tony (Amber) Bordano; five great-grandchildren, Olivia Nanasi, Luca Belleville, Theo Chiles, Alyssa and Mia Bordano, and one on the way, Kade Kelly.
Her family would like to thank Spectrum Health Hospice and the staff at Royal View for the loving care that they provided.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at St. Paul's Campus Parish, with Fr. Michael Burt celebrant. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery. Doris' family will greet friends after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for Spectrum Health Hospice. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
