Douglas Wayne Holmes' Obituary
Lakeview - Douglas "Wayne" Holmes, age 67, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Wayne was born on March 30, 1952, in Canada, the son of Manley and Doris (Thompson) Holmes. He was raised in Ohio and New York and graduated from God's Bible School in Cincinnati in 1971. Wayne earned his LPN degree from Gratiot Community Hospital and started his lifelong career in health care there. He also worked at Tri County, Kelsey Memorial and the State Home and Training Center in Mt. Pleasant as well as in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Wayne was a very family-oriented man. He enjoyed his small hobby farm and had a gift for growing flowers. He loved his animals and driving the Amish. Wayne was a member of the Rock Lake Bible Methodist Church.
Wayne will be deeply missed and is survived by his children, Kristi (Lynn) Maggert of Six Lakes, Harmoni Holmes of Six Lakes, Heidi (Nathan) Easley of Bradleyville, MO, Zach (Heather) Holmes of Lakeview; his grandchildren, Jackson (Elizabeth) Holmes, Abigail Holmes, Gavin Holmes, Ellie Easley, Zachary Holmes, Silas Holmes, Levi Easley, Landon Easley, Emmett Easley; and his sister Erma (Max) Woods of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manley and Doris Holmes.
Funeral Services for Wayne will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Rock Lake Bible Methodist Church (8227 Pine Grove RD NE, Vestaburg) with Pastors Blake Jones and Titus Byer officiating. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation at the church on Monday, September 2, 2019 from 5-7 PM. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes following the service
