Douglas Dwight Paulson's Obituary
Douglas Dwight Paulson, 78, of Blanchard, Michigan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 25, 2026. He was born on September 29, 1947, to Alex Paulson and Geneva Paulson.
On May 12, 1967, Doug married the love of his life, Vicki Kohler, and together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, building a family rooted in love, laughter, and loyalty.
Doug proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, a commitment that reflected his strength and devotion to service. Following his military service, he dedicated 33 years to the United States Postal Service as a postal carrier. He was a longtime member of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and served as Commander of Post #5602 in Six Lakes for nearly 30 years. Doug was also a proud member of the Lakeview VFW Post, attended Remus Class of ’66 gatherings, and was an active member of United by Faith Christian Church.
Doug loved the simple joys of life—baseball, hunting, and faithfully cheering on the Detroit Lions. Known as a true social butterfly, Doug never met a stranger and was always ready with a story, a laugh, or a little good-natured nonsense and malarkey. He was fiercely loyal, undeniably strong, and deeply loved by those who knew him.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki Paulson; his children Doug (Kendra) Paulson, Matt (Krista) Paulson, K.W. Paulson, and Jennifer (Doug) Storey; his brothers Brad (Virle) Paulsen and Alex (Connie) Paulsen; sister Kathy Mayer; and 14 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Geneva Paulson; his brothers Alan Paulsen; Duane Paulsen and sister Rhonda Paulsen.
The family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to United by Faith Christian Church.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Janowicz Family Funeral Home (413 E. Gilson St. Edmore, Michigan 48829).
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Scott Manning officiating.
Doug’s legacy lives on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the family he loved so fiercely. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
