Duane "Dewey" John Olsen's Obituary
Duane "Dewey" John OlsenDewey passed away June 14, 2023, at his home on Chippewa Lake with his family at his side. He was born January 22, 1935, on the family farm in Lakeview, Michigan. He was a long-time resident of Lakeview prior to moving to Chippewa Lake during retirement. He also wintered in Frostproof Florida.Dewey graduated from Lakeview High School with the class of 1953. He was employed at Bollinger's and owned the Lakeview Body Shop for many years. He served his Country in the United States Army from 1958-1960. He retired from Federal Mogul where he was employed from 1973-1997.He loved spending time at "the cabin" in Luther Michigan with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing the most. His sports included baseball and golf. He was very proud of his volunteer fire service with the Lakeview District Fire Department where he retired as Assistant Fire Chief after 38 years.Dewey married Anna Witmer on September 7, 1963, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, daughter Luanne (Doug) Hogle of Bryan, Ohio; sons, Jon (Julie) Olsen of Big Rapids, Michigan, and Dr. Gene (Edward) Olsen of Ludington, Michigan.Also surviving him are grandchildren, Brandon (Christy) Hogle of Bryan, Texas, and Brittany (Steve) Hogle of Faribault, Minnesota; great grandchildren, Brielle, Jonathon, Charlie, Jordan and Caitlynn; brother, Larry Olsen, sister's-in-Law, Peggy Domine, Nancy Olsen, and Clarice Olsen; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Florence Olsen as well as brothers, Jack Domine, David Olsen, Don Olsen, Jerry Olsen and sister-in-law, Dorothy Olsen.Per his request, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place at a later date.
