Dwight E. Rockey's Obituary
Dwight E Rockey, age 83, of Big Rapids passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born September 21, 1928 in Ada, Ohio, the son of Elmer Berlin Rockey and Clara E. Riedel. Dwight served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant from 1948 to 1952 in Germany. He worked for many years as an auto mechanic in Baldwin and Mt. Pleasant. After moving to Big Rapids in 1968, he worked at the Campus Barber Shop and later at the water treatment plant. Dwight is survived by four sons; Alan (Anita) Rockey of Middleton, ID, Blaine (Vicky) Rockey of Big Rapids, Dana Rockey of Oklahoma City, OK and Craig (Gayle) Rockey of Oklahoma City, OK; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 52 years, Darlene, an infant daughter, one sister and one brother. A memorial gathering will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Mohnke Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Baldwin. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
