Earl Alvin Burke's Obituary
Earl Alvin Burke born December 9, 1928 to November 1, 2024, age 95 of Canadian Lakes and Royal View Assisted Living, Mecosta, Michigan. He was born in Stoddard County Missouri in 1928 to Clyde and Bertha Burke. After 2 and a half years in the Navy, serving on Guam in WW II, he married Ruth McGruder in Flint Michigan in 1958. He was a heavy equipment operator working on the building of I 75 between Flint and Pontiac. In 1963, Earl and Ruth bought The Pines Swimming Beach on Bostwick Lake in Rockford, Michigan. They bought a small campground in Six Lakes, Michigan in 1968, they named Pleasure Point. They moved there in 1973, adding more than 160 lots and amenities. In 1987, they sold individual lots in Pleasure Point RV Condominium Resort. Earl and Ruth lived in Six Lakes from 1973 to 2021. He was a member of the Six Lakes Masonic Lodge. Earl was accompanied by son Dan on the Veterans Mid-Michigan Honor Flight to Washington D C. Earl was one of 4 World War II veterans to attend.
Earl is survived by his children Daniel (Brian Gray) Burke, of Canadian Lakes and Douglas Burke, of Edmore; grandchildren Amy Bart, Joshua Guild and Chad Burke, and several great grandchildren; his sister, Velma Glen and his sister-in-law Joyce Burke (Burrell Burke). He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Bertha Burke, and his wife of 65 years, Ruth Burke, sisters Ruth Townsend, Thelma Sullivan, Mable Deno and Martha Burke and brothers James Burke, Paul Burke and his twin brother, Burrell Burke.
