Edgar H. Kutzbach's Obituary
Reed City Edgar H. Kutzbach, 78, of Reed City, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009, at Spectrum Health in Reed City. He was born December 21, 1930, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Edgar and Lydia (Kruschel) Kutzbach. Ed moved with his family to Reed City as a young man, and graduated from Reed City High School in 1949. Following his graduation, he worked at Gardener-Denver Co. in Reed City. Upon moving to Big Rapids, Ed worked for Hanchett Manufacturing for several years. He then accepted a position with Northtwin Motors in Big Rapids, where he worked as the Parts Manager for many years until the business closed. Ed then worked for Tubelite in Reed City until retiring. Ed was an accomplished accordion player and teacher, and for years taught many students how to play. His musical group, Eddie Ks Band, entertained at many local establishments, including the Brown Bungalow, the Paris Bar, Cabin by the Shore, and various receptions and events. He was formerly a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, and was a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reed City. On May 5, 1951, he married Betty Ringler, who preceded him in death on May 3, 1984. On December 21, 1984, he married Carmetta Shepherd, who survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Yvonne (Steve) Fox of Beal City; 1 son, David (Sue) Kutzbach of Lake City; 4 grandchildren, Tracie and Matt Fox, and Elizabeth and Emily Kutzbach; 1 sister, Esther Miller of Reed City; a stepson, Dave (Barbie) Shepherd of Big Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reed City, with Pastor Dean Davenport officiating. Burial will be in the Chase Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions for Trinity Lutheran Church or the Alzheimers Association may be left at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, where Eds family will greet friends today (Wednesday), from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
