Ednajean Antczak's Obituary
Big Rapids Ednajean Antczak, 89, of Paris, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Mecosta County Medical Center. She was born August 29, 1920, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Charles L. and Ova Mae (Pettit) Troupe-Schuberg, and graduated from high school there. Ednajean went on to get her nursing degree from Mount Mercy Academy in Grand Rapids, and at this time she became a devout Catholic. For many years, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Big Rapids Community Hospital, later Mecosta County General Hospital. Ednajean then worked as a nurse for the State of Michigan, transporting terminally ill patients to hospitals and appointments. Ednajean loved to fish, camp, tube the Muskegon River, and go for leisure rides on her pontoon, enjoying the river. She and her husband Frank helped care for their daughters Appaloosa horse, enjoying his antics and friendship. First and foremost in her life was her family. She cherished every moment with all of them, and was a true inspiration for them of faith, love, and hope. She also loved her friends and her farm with all of its beautiful land and Gods creatures. On June 7, 1941, she married Frank W. Antczak, who preceded her in death in 1987. Surviving are one son, Fredric Antczak of Chase; 2 daughters, Rosemarie Spence and her husband Jake, and Ovamarie Wood and George Monty, all of Big Rapids; 1 brother, Charles Schuberg of Litchfield Park, AZ; grandchildren Amber (Charles) Fagan, Jacob (Sara) Spence, Carrie (Scott) Fluette, Matthew Wood, Lori Henderson, and Deanna Antczak; greatgrandchildren Magnus and Aero Spence, Mallory and Adrienne Fluette, Payton and Ethan Henderson; and several nieces and nephews. Ednajean was also preceded in death by a son-in-law Duane F. Wood. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 29, at St. Pauls Campus Parish in Big Rapids, with Rev. Lam T. Le celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Ednajeans family will greet friends on Monday, September 28, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:30. Her family will also greet friends after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for the American Heart Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home or church.
