Edward Duane CarpenterJanuary 7, 1929 - May 29, 2022
Our loving husband and father, Edward Duane Carpenter, went home to be with His Lord and Savior on May 29, 2022.
He was born January 7, 1929, in Muskegon. He was raised in Grand Rapids and the Woodville area. He was proud to honorably serve his country as a radar tech in the Marine Corps in WWII and the Korean War.
He is survived by the love of his life, Marion Frances Olson. They married on Sept. 11, 1950. They raised 3 children, Edward Duane Carpenter II (Daryl), Marian Frances Carpenter, and William Charles Carpenter (Ruthi); 3 grandchildren, Edward Duane Carpenter III, Hannah Grace Olech, and Bailey Ann Carpenter; 5 great-grandchildren.; and his brother, Joseph Carpenter.
His work life starts, in Grand Rapids as a telephone installer with AT&T. Also in Grand Rapids, at Lear-Siegler, he was a general foreman. He worked at various manufacturing companies over the years, in several states as a director of operations, which continued when he moved to the Big Rapids area at Kraft Tube, in Big Rapids and Reed City, and Austin Tube in Baldwin. He retired in Feb 1988 and spent the following years with his wife of 72 years and family. He enjoyed small game hunting, deer hunting, and fishing by himself or with friends. He never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed.
There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
