Edward David Abbey's Obituary
Edward David Abbey, died Monday, July 18, 2016 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI following an extended illness. Ed was born in Lakeview, Michigan on October 22, 1963 into the Abbey family the last of four children. He met his wife Kari, at a convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They married April 3,1983 and began their family the following year and raised five children. He worked for Montcalm County Road Commission where he was a valued employee. During his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and especially spending time with his family. Ed was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Sign Language Congregation in Grand Rapids, MI. Ed's personality is best expressed by his given name in sign language which translates to "Big Heart" in English. This was evident in how he took care of others by sharing his Bible-based hope of enjoying perfect health on a paradise earth soon. - Revelation 21:3,4.
He leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Kari Lynnae Abbey; his children, Josiah Abbey (wife Jamie), Flushing, MI; Kyle Abbey (wife Brandy), Howard City, MI; Kaitlin (Abbey) Chase (husband Tyler), Midland, MI; Tiffany (Abbey) Herrington (husband Aaron), Howard City, MI; Ashley (Abbey) Watson (husband Joshua), Flushing, MI. His Grandchildren Dakota, Jamison and Silas Abbey, Myles and Everett Herrington and Eisley Watson. His mother Bonnie and two brothers, Steve and Mike and their families, and many close friends.
Edward Abbey Memorial Service will be held in the Greenville High School Cafeteria, 111 N. Hillcrest Street, Greenville, MI 48838, on Sunday, July 24, 2016. Ed's Visitation starts at 3:00 pm with a Memorial Talk starting at 4:00. Refreshments will follow.
