Edward "Tod" Fries' Obituary
Edward “Tod” Fries, age 88 of Honor, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at home surrounded by family. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, March 2nd, at 11:00 AM, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus, with Fr. Tom Boufford as Celebrant. Ed’s family will welcome friends at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, on Wednesday evening from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again Thursday morning at the church from 10:00 AM to the time of service at 11:00 AM.
Ed was born March 6, 1928, the son of Hugh and Ruby Fries. He married the love of his life, Mary Lou Baumann on January 12, 1952 at St. Michael Church in Remus. Prior to moving to their retirement home, they lived in Melvindale, MI where they raised their three sons.
Ed was a devout Catholic. He loved trading stocks and reading Forbes magazine. A jokester to his core, Ed was rarely serious. You could always count on his sense of humor for a laugh, or ten. He enjoyed fly-fishing, feeding the deer and ducks, growing vegetables, and his time spent at the cottage on the Platte River where he and Mary Lou lived for 20 years. One of the nicest people you would ever want to meet, Ed was known to be generous, caring and good-natured.
His comical nature will be greatly missed by his three sons, Edward (Patty), Dan (Barb) and Bill (Marilyn); four granddaughters, Colleen, Deanna, Holly and Marcy; one brother, Tom (Rose) Fries, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 52 years, Mary Lou, and sisters, Margaret, Barbara, Blanch, Katherine, and Betty.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit at 2625 highway 212 SW, Conyers, GA, 30094. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
