Edward S. Mitchell's Obituary
Edward Mitchell, age 65 of Mecosta, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 31, 2016 at 11:00 AM, at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus with pastor Angela King officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mecosta. Family will greet friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 30th at the funeral home.
Ed was born May 16, 1951, the son of William and Jeanette (Clegg) Mitchell. He married the love of his life, Mary Dandy, on October 1, 1970, and together the two grew their family to include six children. Losing his soul mate on September, 23, 2015, proved to be life’s hardest challenge for Ed.
Fishing, hunting, going to the casino and spending time with family were a few of his most favorite things. He was quick and witty and had a positive outlook on life. His children knew they could always talk to him about anything because he always had an ear for listening. A wonderful provider for his family, Ed’s children never wanted for anything. Ed worked at Firestone in Detroit alongside his father for many years before he and Mary decided to move their family to Mecosta. He worked hard and did whatever he had to in order to always provide for his family.
Happy, tough, softhearted, and kind were all words used to describe Ed. He never wanted to inconvenience anyone and always put others before himself. Family was his greatest pride and joy and his grandchildren were always his top priority.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Edward Jr. Mitchell (Christy), William (Meghan) Mitchell, Sherry Karns, Jean (Jesse) Johnston, Christine Mitchell and Darlene (Brian) Lintemuth; sisters, Dolores Dominguez and Carmela Daniels; 31 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and his two beloved dogs, Hy-Dee and Baxter.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 45 years, Mary; brother, Bill, and sister, Sandy.
Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
