Edward M. Simon's Obituary
On September 2, 2023, Edward Maurice Simon died at age 63. Ed was born on May 3, 1960 to Maurice and Nora (Decker) Simon, growing up with his sister, and developing a love for the open spaces the rural land offered.
In Ed’s time, he eventually found his niche at Morbark where he was a faithful employee for more than 30 years, gaining skills and friends alike. Along the way, he also found his partner and love, Patti. Although they had been a couple since 2000, they married on an unforgettable date: 11/11/11.
When he wasn’t with his children or extended family, Ed could be found in the outdoors, most often combining the two joys. He was a true sportsman who took the time to learn the art of hunting and fishing, passing that knowledge on to whoever joined him each time. When each season was over and he wasn’t playing a game of softball or horseshoes, he honed his skills in the bowling alley, enjoying tossing the ball over a beer and a laugh.
While Ed was an outgoing and exuberant soul, when someone bumped up against it they discovered he had a wide stubborn streak. He would stand firm in his beliefs, being nudged along only by Patti or his children. But most often, with his jolly nature, he could be persuaded to sit and enjoy a beer pretty much anywhere, the task being even sweeter when a NASCAR race was on.
Ed loved his family, friends, and community. He will surely leave a gap and some lonely moments for those left to mourn his loss.
Carrying on Ed’s memory are his Mother, Nora Simon; Beloved bride, Patti; Children: Aaron (Hannah) Simon, Melissa Simon, Cayla (Todd) Forquer, and Dustin (Michaela) Forquer; Grandchildren: AJ, Dean, Ryett, Winter, Jetta, Maverick, Gabby, Hunter, Dallas, Payton, and Katie; Sister, Christine Welling; Niece and Nephew, Ryan Welling and Richelle (Kevin) Green; and Grand Niece and Nephew Rilynn and Cole Welling.
He was preceded in death by his Father; Mother-in-law, Mildred Jones, and Brother-in-law, Ric Welling.
A memorial service will be held on September 30, 2023 from 1:00 – 6:00 PM at the Remus Bowling Center.
