Eldon "Ely" Leo Young's Obituary
Eldon (Ely) Leo Young, age 67, of Lakeview, MI, passed away after a courageous fight with cancer on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Eldon was born on October 25, 1954, in Lakeview Mi, the son of Arthur Claude Young and Martha Mary (Tribe) Young. Eldon was raised in Lakeview, MI, where he attended Lakeview Community Schools and graduated in 1973. Eldon enlisted and served his country honorably with the United States Marine Corp in 1972. He went on to continue his education at Grand Rapids Community College where he specialized in Tool and Die.
Eldon worked Tool and Die at Keeler Brass for many years, and will always be remembered for being a hardworking, good, and kind man who loved his family and friends deeply and cherished the time he spent with them.
Eldon had many hobbies which included family, social gatherings, gardening, bird watching, the beauty of nature, and a deep love for his Harley.
Eldon is survived by the love of his life, Betty L Main Young of Lakeview; children, Wendy Woods of Pontiac, and Tonya (Dale) Beebe of Riverdale; 4 grandchildren, Branden Soule, Cameron Soule, Kayleigh Thompson, and Jeramiah Thompson; siblings, Gary (Toni) Young, James (Rebecca) Young, Dean Young, Mary Wolfe, Kathy (Dan) Yother; and many nieces and nephews.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Author Claude Young and Martha Mary Tribe Young; siblings, Kenneth Young, Bobby Young, and Glenn Tribe.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Gale Nesbitt officiating. Interment at West Pine Cemetery is immediately following. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 2, 2021, and again on Friday from 12:00 PM until time of service at the funeral chapel.
Those wishing to donate in Eldon's memory or in lieu of flowers are asked to consider memorial contributions to his daughters Wendy Woods and Tonya Beebe to help with burial expenses.
