Eldon Keith Langworthy's Obituary
Grant Center - Eldon Keith Langworthy, age 81 of Grant Center, passed away Friday November 28, 2014 shortly after shooting his final buck. He was born on July 3, 1933 in Grant Center, the son of Bruce and Lilah (VanAlstine) Langworthy. Eldon graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1952. Following high school he was drafted into the United States Army, serving from 1952-1954. He returned home to help his parents on the farm. Later he went to work at Big Rapids Box Factory where he became the manager and worked for 49 years. Eldon was an avid hunter, wood worker, and loved working in his flower garden. .He was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Eldon is survived by Donelda (Ribar), his wife of 53 years, 5 children, Elden (Laurie), Keith Bruce (Elizabeth), Gerald (Melissa), Charlene (Troy) Hunt, Michele (Travis) Vanderhoof, 12 grandchildren, Rachel, Megan, Krista, Philip, David, Joseph, Matthew, Keith Evan, Andrew, Jacob, Joshua and Eden plus two great grandsons, James and Ayden. Also surviving are two brothers, Melvin and Norman Langworthy, one sister, Shirley Langworthy, and one sister-in-law Barbara Langworthy, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Elwood Langworthy, and one sister Evelyn Carlson. Funeral services for Eldon will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday December 2, 2014 at the Mohnke Funeral Home with Pastor Lyle Ball officiating. Visitation will be today, Monday from 2 - 4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grant Center Cemetery Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to the Christopher Reeves Foundation.
