Ellis Vernon Buskirk's Obituary
Ellis Vernon "Pat" Buskirk, age 80, of Six Lakes, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2019 at Spectrum Health Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview. Pat was born on November 20, 1938 in Stanton, the son of Covel and Emma (Beetley) Buskirk. He was raised in the Stanton area and attended school there. On February 6, 1960, Pat married Verna Warner at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Six Lakes. He worked for General Electric and then for Hitachi Magnetics in Edmore, retiring in 1994 after nearly 35 years of service. Pat enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing, and hunting. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids. He was a member of the New Life United Methodist Church.
Pat is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Verna Buskirk of Six Lakes; his children, James Ellis (Susan) Buskirk of Belding, Catherine (Roger) Jones of Belding, D'Ann (Marvin) Fountain of Six Lakes and Sue (Rodney) Farrell of Edmore; grandchildren, Jeremy, Matthew, Carrie, Jessica, Danyelle, Kristen, Corey and Stacey; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Buskirk of Six Lakes and Charles Buskirk of Remus; sisters, Lavona (Bruce) Johnson of Cedar Springs, Maxine (Wayne) Bogart of Crystal; and sisters-in-law, Sandra Buskirk of Six Lakes, Claudette Buskirk of Stanton, Joyce Hoard of Elwell, Lois (Don) Fox of The Villages, FL and Carol Burns of Stanton.
He was preceded in death by his parents Covel and Emma Buskirk; 6 brothers, Earl, Elton, Fred, Allen, William and Covel Buskirk Jr; and 2 sisters, Rozella Braman and Leona Cavanaugh.
A memorial service honoring Pat will take place on Friday, February 8, 2019 at, 11:00 AM at New Life United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, February 7 at the church and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Friday. Memorial Contributions may be made to New Life United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
