Elwood Waldemore Johnson's Obituary
Elwood Waldemore Johnson, 88, of Canadian Lakes, MI, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on March 29, 2013. Elwood was a WWII Navy hero, serving on the USS Intrepid in the South Pacific. He was a long-time resident of Clarkston, MI, where he taught high school and later spent 25 years as an engineer for General Motors. Elwood was born and raised in Muskegon, MI , and majored in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics at Western Michigan University. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margarite and John Johnson, one brother, four sisters, and one grandson, Darren W. Gietz. He is survived by Thelma Johnson, his loving wife of 66 years; five children, Cynthia, Richard, Janet, Marcia, and Anne; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and one sister. He was our Daddy-O, little bookworm, and quiet pillar of strength. Elwood was a sports enthusiast and avid bird watcher. Oh, by the way, he was the cutest dad ever! A full military service will be held later this year at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
