Emma May Bush's Obituary
Big Rapids-Emma May Bush-101, of Big Rapids, passed into the arms of her savior on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on May 16, 1915 in Big Rapids, the daughter of Perry and Elizabeth (Parker) Fredrick. Emma lived her entire life in Big Rapids. She worked on the farm helping her father into her late teens. She had her own team of horses. Her father depended on her a great deal. Emma shared her life memories in a weekly column published for two years in the Pioneer. She was amused by having strangers approach her saying "You're Emma Bush, we love your column". At age 97, Emma was honored to receive community recognition, calling her the "Grand Lady of Mecsota County". She is survived by by one son, John Bush of Big Rapids, one sister, Erma Bechaz of Big Rapids plus many nieces and nephews. Emma is preceded in death by her husband , Donald, two brothers, Clifton and John Fredrick, and two sisters, Winnie Sanok and Florence Toogood. Funeral services for Emma will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made in Emma's name to Hospice of Michigan or St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Emma's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Michigan for their loving care.
