Emma Corbett's Obituary
Big Rapids Emma M. Corbett, 92, of Jenison, formerly of Big Rapids, passed on to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 19, 2008, from her earthly residence. She was born May 22, 1916, in Paris, the daughter of James and Edith (Morlan) Davidson, and lived most of her life in Big Rapids and Grand Rapids, moving to Jenison in 2001. Emma was a graduate of Ferris Institute in 1936, and spent many years working as an office manager for several medical practices in both Big Rapids and Grand Rapids. After retiring, she learned to use a computer, and was active on the Internet many years, keeping in touch with relatives and friends throughout the country via e-mail. Emma was a lifetime animal lover, caring for both dogs and cats over the years, most recently adopting her beloved Persian, Samantha, from the Harbor Humane Society. span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt;"> In 1938, she married Chester Corbett, who preceded her in death in 1973. Surviving are her son Jim (Sharon) Corbett of Grand Rapids; her daughter Janice (Robert) Brocato of Kentwood; her honorary daughter Bonnie (Robert) Feltner of Hudsonville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Duke (Helen) Davison of Big Rapids; 2 sisters, Marie (Harold) Martinson, and Beverly (Ed) Jensen, both of Big Rapids; sister-in-law Janet Davison of Big Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. Emma was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Donald, Halbert, and James Davidson, and William Davison. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2008, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Rev. Leah Simontal officiating. Burial will follow in the West Cemetery in Green Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for the Salvation Army of Big Rapids may be left at the funeral home, where Emmas family will greet friends on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. and prior to services on Monday.
