Emmet "Bub" Lake Morlan's Obituary
Big Rapids-Emmet "Bub" Lake Morlan, 86, of Big Rapids passed away Monday, September 16, 2013. He was born on June 23, 1927 in Big Rapids, the son of Emmet and Jeanette (Lake) Morlan. He grew up in Big Rapids and Emmet was very active in the Boy Scouts where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Big Rapids High School. From there he went to work for the Kalamazoo Public Museum, he also built exhibits and performed puppet shows for the public. Emmet spent his summers at the Red Barn Theater in Saugatuck, where he was the lighting and set builder and occasionally acted. It was the love that he passed on to his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his younger brother, Marquis and Beth Lake of Illinois. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Emmet is survived by special friends Greg Lewis and John Vandenvos. He was proceeded in death by his sisters, Jeanette (Verlin) Webber, Alice (Carl) Carpenter and a brother A.J. (Ida) Morlan, nephew, Carl M. Carpenter and great nephew, Ryker W. Smith. Am memorial service for Bub will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Dan Maguire and Bob Maguire officiating.
