Eunice Martha Heiney's Obituary
Big Rapids - Eunice Martha Heiney, 86, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. She was born August 13, 1930 in Big Rapids, the third daughter of the Reverend F. W. and Henrietta (Loesel) Wiese and raised as a dedicated member of St Peters Lutheran Church. When she was 25, Eunice quit her job at a Paris fish hatchery and married Robert Heiney. They moved to the Detroit area where they attended Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Allen Park and eventually moved back to the Big Rapids area where they spent their later years. The happy, loving marriage lasted almost 60 years until Robert passed away two years ago. Throughout her life, Eunice was involved in a wide array of leadership and self -sacrificing rolls in the church and community, including evangelism, choir, Bible studies, visiting the aged and sick, Meals on Wheels, LWML (Lutheran Woman's Missionary League), as well as taking on the very personal duty of supporting the missionary work of her son's family. She wrote a monthly column in the church newsletter under the pseudonym "Minnie Mite" which resulted in her cherished collection of miniature mice. Eunice's immaculate living room was filled with music where she played piano and cherished time spent singing worship music with family and close friends. Eunice was known as "Mom" to four: Tim, Mark, Robin, and Scott, to 12, she was fondly referred to as Grandma: Benjamin, Rachael, Joel, Jesse, Nanci, Jonathan, Katie, Mallory, Andrea, Taylor, Christian and Josh. She is also survived by her brother Fred Wiese and her sister Arletha Kandt. Please wear your Easter best for Eunice's Funeral celebration at 11:00, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Peters Lutheran Church.
