Eunice Elizabeth Michael's Obituary
Eunice E. Beery Michael, age 98 of Big Rapids, went home to be with her Lord on Monday March 26, 2012. She was born in St. Louis, MI on August 4, 1913, to John L. and Addie Humphrey Beery. Eunice graduated from St. Louis High School and attended Central Michigan College where she earned an AAS Degree in General Education. On December 28, 1931 she married Stanford Michael. They moved to Big Rapids in 1948 when they started what is now Michael Oil Company. For a period of years she was employed in the office of Linten's / Kline's Department Store in downtown Big Rapids. Eunice was extremely active in the First United Methodist Church of Big Rapids where she served as President of the Women's Society, she was District Supply Secretary and she was a member of the Mary Martha Circle. Other activities included being a Girl Scout Leader and Secretary of Big Rapids Chapter #42 Order of the Eastern Star for several years following her service as Worthy Matron and after serving as Grand Martha in the Germain Grand Family of the State of Michigan during 1970-71. Eunice will be dearly missed by her children, Harry Michael and Janet (James) McIntyre, her grandchildren Sally (Arthur) Gamble of Paris, Gail (Gary) Bailey of Reed City, David (Meghan) Michael of Memphis, TN, Kathy (Robert) Czarnecki of Big Rapids and John Loveland of Evart in addition to several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanford in 1983, her parents and three brothers, John and Dale of Traverse City and Max of North Carolina. At her request, cremation has taken place. Eunice was presently a member of Charity Baptist Church, 20 Mile Road, Paris, where a Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 14, 2012.
