Fern Maxine Gilbert's Obituary
Edmore- Fern Maxine Gilbert, age 89, formerly of Stanton passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 in Burlington, Michigan. She was born on April 3, 1931 to Willis and Edna (Hallock) Miles in Stanton. Fern was raised in the Westville area of Montcalm County, where she attended Westville country school before graduating from Stanton Schools. She married Keith A. Gilbert on August 26, 1950, in Angola, Indiana. Fern's family meant everything to her. She loved being a wife and mother, even helping Keith with his tinkering when he became unable to do it himself. She was a member of the Frost Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, making cakes, family vacations, and camping. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Fern is survived by her daughters, Rene (Bill) Tassie of Burlington, Mary Lou (David) Boyer of Sidney; grandchildren, Eric (Lynn) Boyer, Brandon (Ciera) Boyer; great-granddaughter, Gwyn Boyer; sister, Carol Avery of Crystal.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; her parents Bill and Edna Miles; son, Carl Duane Gilbert; sisters, Jessie Kieff, Vera Brown; infant brother, Harold Miles.
Funeral services for Fern will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore with Pastor Joel Nephew officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. All are invited to a luncheon at the Frost Seventh-Day Adventist Church following the service. Interment will be at McBride Cemetery. Contributions in Fern's memory may be made to the Food Pantry at the Frost Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
