Florence Balavitch's Obituary
Florence I. Balavitch, 67, of Paris passed away Monday, November 5, 2012. She was born on May 17, 1945 in Lakeview, Michigan, the daughter of Ralph and Julia (Stuba) Martin. Florence graduated from Morley Stanwood High School in 1964. She was active in Relay for Life, gardening and babysitting her grandson. Florence is survived by Peter Balavitch, Jr., her husband of almost 45 years, three children; Peter III, Rose and Martin (Stephani) Balavitch, all of Paris, one grandson, Logan and her mother, Julia Pickell. Also surviving are two brothers; Ralph (Shirley) Martin of California, Earl Martin of Big Rapids, two sisters; Agnes (Roland) Lyon of Big Rapids and Barb Gilmore of Big Rapids plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Thomas Martin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8th at St. Paul's Chapel with Father Lam T. Le, celebrant. Visitaion will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions for the family may be left at the funeral home.
