Floyd Thomas Glazier's Obituary
Big Rapids - Floyd Thomas Glazier, age 80, of Big Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at his home. He was born December 29, 1935 in Big Rapids, the son of Carl and Loretta (Byrnes) Glazier. In 1958, he married Lordine Kwapis, who preceded him in death in 2004. In 2006 he married Janice Feyerabend, who survives. Floyd started working as an iron worker. He then went on to join the IBEW where he retired from after thirty years. In retirement, he had a Pilot car business which offered him an opportunity to travel. Floyd was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed membership in the River Valley Car Club, loved to square dance and attend Fiddlers Jamborees. In earlier years, "Tom" was a big supporter of Boy Scout Troop 114. He was an avid mechanic, welder, and sportsman. His specialty was entertaining everyone he met with a story. He is survived by his children, Laurie Drews and Carl Glazier; grandchildren, Fred (Katie) Drews, Ken (Ashley) Glazier, and Kevin Glazier; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy (William) Eddy and Linda (Richard) Luce; and sister-in-law, Patricia Glazier. Preceding him in death were a son, Ricky; sisters, Ilene Nichols, Roni Scott, and Alice Wimer; brother, Dick Glazier; and son-in-law, Alfred Drews. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 30 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Michael Burt officiating. Family will greet friends on Saturday beginning at 10:00 am until the time of service. Visitation will be 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, January 29 at the Mohnke Funeral Home. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery will take place in the spring.
