Forrest J. Stephens Jr.'s Obituary
Lakeview - Forrest Jefferson Stephens Jr. "Bud" passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 2, 2017 from complications of pneumonia and kidney disease at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. Bud was born March 15, 1935 to Forrest "Pappy" and Esther Stephens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He married Wanda Posteher in 1960 in Levitt Town, New York. They lived most their lives at Townline Lake where he enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends.
He proudly served active duty in the Army from 1954 to 1956. He then worked at General Motors for over 30 years as a tow motor operator, retiring in 1992. This gave him even more time to fish and tend to his garden that he was very proud of. He loved to share his catch and harvest with the neighbors. Bud and Wanda enjoyed their many gambling trips across the state and were able to cruise to the Bahamas, Alaska, and through the Panama Canal.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sister-in-law's Gordon (Virginia), and Jim (Janet). Brother-in-laws Ken Ensing and Ernie Cornell, father and mother-in-law Carl and Irene "Lee" Posteher, nephew John Stephens, and niece Susan Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Wanda. His children Jeff (Chris), Sandra, Scott (Julie), and Mike. His grandkids Tyler, Jordon, and Harley. His sisters Joyce Ensing, and Shirley Cornell, and several nieces and nephews. Bud is also survived by his extended family that called him grandpa Bud and those who called him friend. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial and celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 a. m. at Townline Lake. Wear your favorite fishing hat and share your memories.
