Francis James Wagester's Obituary
Francis “Frank” James Wagester, age 87, of Remus, Michigan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 12, 2026.
Frank was born on November 17, 1938, to Kenneth and Ada Wagester. On April 3, 1960, he married the love of his life, Janet Starr, and together they recently celebrated 66 years of marriage, a testament to their deep and enduring love.
Farming was Frank’s lifelong passion and the foundation of his life. From a young boy, he worked alongside his father, carrying on a proud family tradition of farming.
Frank attended Ferris State University, where he earned his associate degree in auto mechanics. He worked at several local repair shops and was known for his ability to fix just about anything. He had a special love for antique tractors and took great pride in his mechanical skills.
Frank also worked for many years as a local milkman, driving milk truck and building countless friendships with farmers and families along his route. He especially enjoyed taking drives after planting season, cruising the countryside to admire the crops growing in the fields and checking in on the hard work of fellow farmers.
He was known for being stubborn, hardworking, and dependable. Francis was well-liked by all who knew him, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer sound advice. As a father, he was loving, caring, patient, and wise. As a husband, he was deeply devoted to Janet, working tirelessly to support and care for his family throughout the years. He was truly an incredible support system and a steady source of strength.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Wagester; his children, Steve (Kim) Wagester, Julie Wagester, and Carmen (Edward) Longuski; his brothers, Eugene Wagester and Donald Wagester; his sisters, Pauline Reisner, Patricia and Terry Bowerman, and Phillis and William Daws; his grandchildren, Ben and Hanna Rosenbalm and Paul and Emilee Longuski; and his great-grandchildren, Jude, August, Walker, and Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
