Frank Joseph Balowski Jr.'s Obituary
Frank Joseph Balowski Jr., 85, of Chase, MI, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 20, 1939, in Wyandotte, MI, the son of Frank and Frances (Tworek) Balowski.
Frank graduated from Huron High School in New Boston in 1957. In 1959, he married his first wife, Sherrill Stockon, and together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and shared memories.
Frank spent over three decades as a dedicated die maker for the Ford Motor Company before retiring. He had a passion for old cars, and loved showcasing them at car shows. Frank’s love for adventure took him out on snowmobiles during Michigan winters.
He married Rita Simmons on Jan. 21, 2016, and together enjoyed many winters in Florida.
Frank’s legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his sons, Frank (Kelly) Balowski and Anthony (Wendy) Balowski; his wife Rita; grandchildren, Sandra (John) Alastra, Joseph (Jessica) Balowski, Jacob Balowski, Caleb (Miranda) Balowski, and Kristian Balowski; great-grandchildren, Grace and Gloria Alastra, Ruth and Nora Balowski, and one more on the way. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Irene) Balowski; his sister Christine (Tom) McClennon; and his sister-in-law Beverly (Ted) Cousino, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sherrill in 2003.
Frank’s warmth, humor, and passion for life left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His love of family, his dedication to his work, and his joy in hobbies like classic cars and snowmobiling will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services to celebrate Frank’s life will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest at Michigan Memorial Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI. Care and arrangements are entrusted to Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Share a memory or express condolences at mohnkefuneralhome.com.
