Frank Wesley Greene's Obituary
Frank Wesley Greene, loving husband and father of three sons, passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday, December 19, 2020. His dear wife Gayle and son Ken were at his side.
Frank was born on July 6, 1934, in Fulton, Ohio, to Leason and Kathryn (Gump) Greene. Some of his favorite childhood memories include spending summers with his grandparents, John and Lulu Greene, on their farm in Nashville, Michigan.
At the age of seventeen Frank joined the US Air Force. Because he had a sharp mind for electronics, technology, and precision, he was trained as a radar technician for Strategic Air Command (SAC). He worked with the B-36 bombers during the Cold War. He served for four years and received an honorable discharge. After his service, he met and within twelve weeks married his sweetheart, Gayle Moreland, of Riverside, California, where they lived for several years. They remained sweethearts for 63 years. Together they had three sons, Frank Wesley Jr., Kenneth, and Nathan. Frank and Gayle eventually relocated to Plymouth, Michigan, where he worked as an engineer in research and development for Burroughs Corporation until his retirement in October of 1991. He had many hobbies including woodworking, model railroads, old classic cars and guns, whistling, working with his John Deere tractor, and classical music. After retirement, he was essential to the development of the Cedar Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church radio station which has been a spiritual witness to many. He was known for his careful work and eye for quality, and his love for his family and pets.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Leason, and his mother, Kathryn, a still born daughter, Charlotte, and daughter-in-law Marilyn (Lohr) Greene. He is survived by his loving wife Gayle, his three sons Wesley (Marsha), Ken (Tammy), and Nathan (Patty), and his grandchildren Jeff (Ashley), Tommy (Lauren), Sarah (Donovan) Cross, Bonnie (Jacob) Le Blanc, Eric (Christiana), Daniel, and Adam. He has four great-grandchildren as well. He is also survived by half-brothers and sisters Larry (Carol) Greene, Shirley (Bill) Dixon, Jackie (Gary) Clain, Kerry Schubach, and Kent Hasty.
A family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the Cedar Lake Cemetery.
Frank was a beloved husband and father and will be greatly missed.
