Frank Manchip's Obituary
Big Rapids- Frank L. Manchip, 90, of Big Rapids, passed away on July 2, 2011. Frank was born June 9, 1921 in Big Rapids, the son of Roy and Kathrine (Martin) Manchip, and graduated from Big Rapids High School with honors in 1940. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, and served four years until he was honorably discharged on April 4, 1946. Frank returned to his hometown, and on August 12, 1948, he married Floyanna Mae Kutchinski, who preceded him in death in 1995. Frank worked for Liberty Dairy, Michigan Bread, Vita Boy Potato Chips and retired from Made-Rite Potato Chips in 1983 at the age of 62. Frank and Floyanna enjoyed golfing and traveling with friends. He loved relaxing on his patio, gardening, biking and playing cribbage with his friends. Frank was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Frank is survived by three children, Coleen (Fred) Jaeger of Big Rapids, Brad (Nola) Manchip of Big Rapids, and Denise (Dr. Mark) Payne of Davison; five grandchildren, Janelle, Jillaine, Derek, Casey, and Ashley; eleven great grandchildren, Tyler, Kaelyn, Jameson, McKenna, Matthew, Mia, Jordan, Kortney, Devon, Kloe`, and Braeden; and four nephews. Frank was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Ila and Vail Thompson; and sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Cecil Parker. Private family services will be held at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids on Monday morning, July 11, with Pastor Becky Morrison officiating. A celebration of Franks life will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Michigan, Lacks Cancer Center at St. Marys Hospital in Grand Rapids, or Hope Lodge of Grand Rapids, Michigan. ? ?? ? ??
